About me
I like painting because it’s fun!
That might sound simple, but coming from a professional nerd who works with data, fun matters.

In my day job, things need to be exact. Numbers have to be right, mistakes can be costly, and there’s an expectation to be clean, orderly, and fit a mold. Painting is my refuge from that. When I paint, I can be messy in my own way. I don’t have to follow standard procedures. I get to experiment, stay curious, and take risks, the stakes are lower, and the freedom is higher.

As I’ve grown into my voice as an artist, I’ve realized that realism is what resonates with me most. I’m especially drawn to painting snapshots from trips: scenes where you take in the big picture, but that are full of tiny details you might miss in the moment. Painting gives us the chance to slow down, relive a place, and discover hidden gems, to visit that moment again and again.

What matters most to me is capturing the feeling of being there: the sense of scale, the quiet details, and the small elements you only notice when you pause. I love spending extra time on those details, leaning closer to the canvas, reaching for the smallest brushes, and building up tiny strokes. It feels a bit like leaving hidden notes for the viewer, rewards for those who look closely.

I also enjoy playing with duality. When I’m working on a realism piece, I often keep a second canvas nearby. Using the same color palette, I paint without boundaries or overthinking, just following the wonder of “what if?” That process usually turns into a loose, playful abstract, and I love how the two approaches inform each other.
I’m currently accepting commissions for landscape paintings based on meaningful trips and personal photographs.
Thanks for being here, and for taking the time to explore my work.
